在 DesktopLinux 上看到的 OpenSUSE drops ZENworks, opens YAST
ZENworks 或許是很好用的東西，但不一定適合 “個人” 用戶，甚至會帶來困擾
因此，OpenSUSE 會把它 drop 掉也是早晚的事
就如同 RHEL 跟 Fedora 一樣，一個是用 up2date 一個是用 yum
而 up2date 的後端用的是 Satellite Server，可以用來管理及佈署所有 Clients (RHELs) 的套件管理、更新、狀態監控等等
這對於一個手邊常常要管理 n 台機器的人 (像我本身) 來說，是很有用的，但對於手邊只有一、兩台機器的人來說，不一定好用
而 Novell 的 ZENworks 是比較像是 Satellite Server 的東西，拿去給一般使用者用，結果就是罵聲連連了
因此，分開也好…

OpenSuSE 10.2 以後，已經沒有 y2pmsh 了，要改用 zypper

我的機器上大多同時裝有 Fedora, ScientificLinux, Ubuntu and SuSE
之前從 Ubuntu 6.06(Dapper) 要升級到 6.10(Edgy) 搞得我一肚子火，也讓我放棄了 Ubuntu (目前機器預設都是進 FC6)
現在我準備把 OpenSuSE 10.1 升級到 10.2，同樣也是一肚子火，都把 Repository 指到 10.2 去了，然後 upgrade 時，系統資源吃了 9x% 等了久久，完全沒動靜，當在那了…XD
Updating SUSE Linux 裡寫的：

Warning
Updating from one version to another is unsupported and may result in system inconsistencies. Performing distribution upgrades in the running system increases the risk of causing damage.

因為 ReiserFS 的作者被控殺妻
因此，Notell 的 SuSE Enterprise Linux 未來的版本將從現在預設的 ReiserFS 改成對手 Red Hat 主推的 Ext3

Anyway, 一直到現在，我不管 Fedora SuSE Ubuntu 等，都是使用 Ext3 的

freedesktop.org compiz 跟 beryl 兩者之間有什麼不同呢？
Beryl
Uses flat file backend instead of gconf meaning almost no gnome dependency.
Needs “beryl-settings”, an application to configure settings instead of gnome-xgl-settings or gconf-editor.
Has a lot of extra plugins and enhanced features in other plugins.
Starts with beryl-manager.
Has a custom themeable [...]
